Description:

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery: Anti-Obesity Medication Options Course is designed for surgeons, obesity medicine physicians and integrated health professionals, and will provide anti-obesity medication weight loss options for preop consideration, ineffective weight loss and weight recurrence. The course will include up-to-date information on anti-obesity medication as well as psychological, nutritional, preoperative and post operative use of these medications in the metabolic and bariatric surgery patient population. This will include case presentations with discussions from a panel of experts and audience participation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify when to use the anti-obesity medications preoperatively and postoperatively.
  2. Participants will be able to describe the psychological impact anti-obesity medications have on continued weight loss.
  3. Participants will be able to identify the nutritional deficiencies anti-obesity medications can have on the metabolic and bariatric surgery patient.
