Description:
This course with discuss various case scenarios involving pre and post operative metabolic and bariatric surgical patients. The cases involve decision making regarding behavior health, register dieticians, advance practice providers, registered nurses, and physicians. The topics to be include but not limited to: Cannabis use and increase risk of surgical complications, medical tourism inside and outside the US, GLP-1 RA’s, dumping syndrome in DS, and many more. Come stump the expert panel and give your opinion and advise. Please bring your own cases to the expert panel.
Learning Objectives:
- Define medical tourism inside and outside the United States.
- Identify how cannabis use can increase the risk of surgical complications.
- Identify the behavior health concerns when there is substance use before surgery.
